Will the new app retain our calculations and process?

Yes, where they matter. We identify the rules and calculations your team depends on and rebuild them in a clearer, easier system. The aim is to keep the useful results without copying every awkward sheet and cell.

Can it work on mobile?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your team can open the system in a web browser on a computer, tablet or phone. During the assessment, we agree what people need to do on each device.

Can multiple people use it?

Accepted Answer

Essentials is designed for one person. Business is designed for up to five people sharing one workflow with the same access level. Scale suits larger teams that need multiple workflows, different roles or different access permissions.

Why not just use Excel online?

Accepted Answer

Excel online is helpful for sharing and editing the same spreadsheet, but your team is still working through cells, formulas and tabs. An app built for your business gives each person clear screens, guided steps and only the information they need. It can also handle approvals, reminders and documents automatically, and can use your branding.

How quickly can it be built?

It depends on what your spreadsheet does and what you need the new system to do. The assessment gives you a realistic timescale before any build work begins.

Is building the first version included?

The first version agreed in your assessment is included with every Fully Managed App when you take the 12-month initial term. Any major additions outside that agreement are priced separately. The £295 assessment excludes VAT and pays for the review and project plan, not the build itself.

Do we own our data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Your business owns its information. With Fully Managed Apps, we build and look after the system for you. With the ownership option, your team receives the finished system and everything needed to run it.

What happens if we cancel?

Accepted Answer

Essentials, Business and Scale are billed monthly with a 12-month initial term. After that, you can cancel under the agreed terms. We explain how you can receive your data and what happens when the service ends.

Can we ask for changes after it is launched?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Essentials handles small improvements one at a time. Business has an ongoing improvement queue with one active request at a time. Scale provides greater ongoing delivery capacity and can stage larger work.

Question 11

Is keeping the system online included?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Every Fully Managed App includes the agreed first build, hosting, backups, maintenance, security fixes and support. If you later need more capacity, we will explain the options and agree any extra cost before making a change. If you choose ownership, your team becomes responsible for keeping it online and supporting it after handover, unless we agree otherwise.

Are integrations and external services included?

Scale provides more capacity for involved integration work, but it does not include external vendor costs. Third-party subscriptions, paid integrations, usage charges, upgraded infrastructure, licences and similar external costs require your approval and are invoiced separately from the plan.

Will the new system use our branding?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The system can use your name, colours and everyday business terms. A web address such as yourbusiness.spreadsheetupgrade.com is included. You can also arrange to use your own web address.

Question 14

How is this different from using an app builder ourselves?

Accepted Answer

Your app is built and managed for you. You do not need to learn a building tool or create the system yourself. We understand the workflow, design and build the app, test it and help you start using it.

Can we own the finished system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Own the Finished App starts at £10,000, excluding VAT. After the assessment, we agree a fixed one-time price for the build. Your team receives the finished system and becomes responsible for running it. The assessment fee is credited before VAT when you go ahead.

Spreadsheet Upgrade is an independent service and is not affiliated with, authorised by, sponsored by or endorsed by Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft and Excel are trademarks of the Microsoft group of companies. References to Microsoft Excel are used solely to identify the software with which our independent services are compatible.

How is sensitive data handled?

Spreadsheet uploads and project files are private, only visible to authorised people and never shown on public pages. We only collect what we need to complete the assessment and build your system. Details are in our privacy notice.

Why do I need an assessment first?

Accepted Answer

Every person and team uses spreadsheets differently. The £295 assessment (excl. VAT) lets us understand what you need, recommend a proportional scope from Essentials, Business, Scale or ownership, and give you a clear price and timescale. The fee is credited before VAT if you proceed. Most assessments are completed within 2-3 working days after we receive payment and your spreadsheet.
